Sparta Prague signs forwards Ben Chaim, Plavsic

Associated Press

PRAGUE (AP) — Sparta Prague has signed Israel forward Tal Ben Chaim and Serbia striker Srdjan Plavsic, both to four-year contracts.

The 27-year-old Ben Chaim scored 19 goals in all competitions for Maccabi Tel Aviv last season and 47 in four years. He has played 23 international games for Israel, scoring five goals.

The 21-year-old Plavsic comes from Red Star Belgrade. He recently played at the Under-21 European Championship in Poland and already has played twice for Serbia's national team.

The two transfers follow a recent signing of another offensive foreign player by Sparta, Austria striker Marc Janko.

The signings come after Italian coach Andrea Stramaccioni took over Sparta in May.
