Florida Atlantic fires Charlie Partridge after three seasons

Florida Atlantic has relieved Charlie Partridge of his coaching duties after three seasons, the school announced Sunday.

Florida Atlantic Owls head coach Charlie Partridge.

Partridge was well-regarded but unable to move the program forward, finishing 3-9 in each of his three seasons. FAU's season ended with an embarrassing 77-56 loss to Middle Tennessee.

Partridge had spent several years as an assistant on Bret Bielema's staffs at Arkansas and Wisconsin before taking the FAU job.

Partridge’s deal was scheduled to run through Jan. 31, 2019. The buyout for FAU will be just under $1.2 million because his current annual base salary is $551,250.

This is a job that should attract significant interest, given its location in Boca Raton and facilities that are on the higher end in Conference USA.
