Tyreke Evans has agreed to a deal with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Free agent guard Tyreke Evans has agreed to a one-year, $3.3 million contract with the Memphis Grizzlies, according to an ESPN report confirmed by The Commercial Appeal, part of the USA TODAY Network.

Evans, 27, was part of the multi-player trade at the All-Star break last season that sent him to the Sacramento Kings and sent DeMarcus Cousins to the New Orleans Pelicans. He was in the final season of a four-year, $44 million contract with New Orleans.

The Pelicans had hoped he would be as good for them as he was as a rookie with the Kings in 2009-10, when he averaged 20.1 points and 5.8 assists, earning the Rookie of the Year award. But he has since dealt with multiple injuries and has struggled to score as proficiently, averaging 14.8 points in New Orleans.

Memphis is bracing for the possibility of losing Tony Allen, one of the best defensive guards in the league. Allen has played for the Grizzlies for the past seven seasons and is a free agent.
