CJ McCollum posts picture of Carmelo Anthony in Trail Blazers jersey

New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony reacts during the 118-112 victory against the Los Angeles Lakers at Staples Center.

Ah, the year 2017 — when NBA players take to social media to make recruiting pitches.

Isn't it wonderful?

The most recent offender: Portland Trail Blazers shooting guard CJ McCollum.

McCollum, who plays alongside Damian Lillard to form one of the top backcourts in the NBA, posted a Photoshopped picture of New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony in a Blazers jersey, with no caption, on Instagram on Sunday afternoon.

The post comes amidst the Anthony trade talks, which have picked up — and slowed back down — since the firing of Knicks president Phil Jackson late last month.

The 33-year-old Anthony, who has a no-trade clause in his contract, has been closely linked to Houston (where he would join James Harden and good friend Chris Paul) and Cleveland (where he would team up with another longtime friend in LeBron James). But a recent ESPN report named Portland as a team involved in the hunt for Anthony, which is likely what led to McCollum's post.

And so the Melo saga continues ...
