Freddy Peralta and three other pitchers combined to allow just one hit, former Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Rhys Hoskins apparently kept his rivalry with the New York Mets going, and Christian Yelich homered.

But it was Jackson Chourio who received most of the grand opening day treatment for the Milwaukee Brewers Friday afternoon on social media during their 3-1 victory over the Mets.

Milwaukee Brewers rookie phenom Jackson Chourio had a successful MLB debut on Friday against the New York Mets.

Chourio the No. 2 prospect in baseball according to MLB Pipeline, was thrust into the leadoff spot by manager Pat Murphy and the 20-year old rookie (Yes that's 20 years of age) delivered. He walked, stole a base, singled and drive in a run in his debut with the Brewers.

Here's a sample of social media reaction from victory No. 1 in the 2024 season:

Did Rhys Hoskins realize this was not a Mets-Phillies game? He claims there is still crying in baseball.

Christian Yelich had a round-tripper after his trip by train this morning. And it appears he will be repeating his journey.

Let's not forget that Freddy Peralta and friends allowed just one hit Friday.

And the Megill parents were apparently hoping for a tie.
