The Shorewood girls swimming team finished the 2016 rebuilding campaign with a 24th-place finish in the 38-school field at the WIAA D2 state meet in Madison on Nov. 11.

The Greyhounds scored 21 points for their spot as defending champion Madison Edgewood overwhelmed the field with 337 points.

Finishes for the Greyhounds included a 15th for the 200-yard medley relay team of Maya Schneider, Anna Czubak, Leah Jorn and Sophie D'Amato (1:55.62); a 10th from Schneider in the 500 free (best time of 5:26.57); a 14th from the 200 free relay of D'Amato, Jorn, Czubak and Schneider (season-best time 1:43.41); and a 13th by Schneider in the 200 individual medley (2:15.44).

The only senior on the state team was Jorn.
