The 2017 All-Suburban Baseball Team was selected independent of position and chosen by members of the Now Newspapers sports staff.

Player of the Year

Alex Binelas, jr., Oak Creek

Greater Metro Player of the Year has been named first-team All GMC three times. Committed to Louisville. Infielder hit .508 with a .622 on-base percentage and 1.590 OPS in 63 at-bats. Finished with nine doubles, four triples and four homers with 16 stolen bases. Led Oak Creek to GMC regular-season and tournament title. Also posted 1.94 ERA in 22 innings of work, with 21 strikeouts.

Coach of the Year

Ernie Millard, Homestead

Long-tenured coach led Highlanders on a 16-game winning streak to close the year, with the run snapped in an extra-inning loss to eventual state champion West Bend West in regional final. Pulled it off despite just one first-team All Conference selection in North Shore.

Nathan Aide, sr., Franklin

Batted .427 with 1.115 OPS. Drove in 39 runs and scored 20 runs, with six doubles, three triples and two homers. Stole 12 bases. Second-team All State.

Griffin Doersching, sr., Greendale

Northern Kentucky recruit named first-team All state. Finished with 12 doubles and 13 home runs, with 42 RBIs, 40 runs scored and a .664 on-base percentage. OPS of 1.770 and also stole eight bases.

Michael Hinz, sr., Brookfield Central

Went 8-1 on the hill with 0.94 ERA and 35 strikeouts in 52 innings. Allowed only seven earned runs all season.

Alex Kalisnig, sr., Muskego

Batted .448 with 10 doubles and three triples, good for .600 slugging percentage. Stole 12 bases and drove in 29 runs. Second-team All State.

Mike Lehner, sr., Muskego 

Infielder batted .411 wiht .711 slugging mark and .504 on-base percentage. Homered four times with 13 doubles and 21 runs scored. Second-team All State.

Carson Manning, sr., Franklin

Batted .443 with 33 RBIs and a .542 on-base percentage. Posted three home runs and 10 doubles, with 11 stolen bases an a 1.269 OPS. Second-team All State.

Kurt Mlachnik, sr., West Allis Central

First-team All Conference in Greater Metro and honorable-mention All State. Batted .479 with 30 runs scored, five doubles, a .591 on-base percentage and incredible 42 stolen bases.

Luke Posig, sr., Oak Creek

Batted .457 with 1.182 OPS in 92 at-bats for Greater Metro champion Knights. Outfielder also stole 12 bases and drove in 46 runs, second most in school history. First-team All State.

Logan Rezash, sr., Greendale

Catcher named second-team All State after earning Woodland West Player of the Year last year as a junior. Batted .348 with .460 on-base percentage, with 20 RBIs. Threw out 11 of 18 would-be base stealers with 11 pickoffs.

Alex Rodriguez, sr., Cudahy

Woodland East Player of the Year batted .427 with 34 runs scored, 10 doubles, five triples and 22 RBIs. Stole 13 bases and struck out just one time. Slugged .635 and reached base at .487 clip.

Joey Scaffidi, sr., New Berlin Eisenhower 

Multi-sport standout capped career with honorable-mention All state selection. Batted .424 with two homers, 12 RBIs and 18 runs scored in 59 at-bats, with a 1.225 OPS.

Ben Stanke, jr., Oak Creek

Catcher drove in 35 runs for conference-champion Oak Creek, batting .429 with a .506 on-base percentage and 1.129 OPS. 

Connor Stoming, sr., Germantown

First-team All State selection batted .437 with a 1.243 OPS and .567 on-base mark in 71 at-bats, Finished with 24 RBIs and 12 doubles. 

Caleb Willert, sr., Franklin 

Posted a 7-0 record heading into state tournament with 1.63 ERA and 55 strikeouts in 47 innings of work. Also batted .345 with five doubles. Second-team All State.

Jonathan Wizner, soph., Germantown

Batted .450 with 1.145 OPS. scored 29 runs and drove in 16, with six doubles, four triples and a homer. Committed just two errors in 83 total chances (.976 fielding percentage)

Chris Zak, sr., Shorewood

Honorable mention All-State. Posted 1.27 ERA on the mound, allowing eight earned runs in 44 innings of work with 60 strikeouts. Also batted .375 with 12 RBIs in 48 at-bats.
