With the Woodland Conference dual meet championship on the line, the Shorewood boys tennis team was at its best.
The Woodland East champions dominated Woodland West co-champion Wauwatosa West, 7-0, to claim the title May 11.
Adam Kelly downed Nick Price at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-3. At No. 2 singles, JJ Lambert took care of Akshay Bakshi, 6--0, 6-1. Elijah Johnson beat Alex Cruz, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 singles and Chris Perry earned a 6-2, 6--1 win over John Frank at No. 4 doubles.
James Ewing and JJ Nelson claimed a 6-4, 6-2 win over Niels Peters and Zach Schumacher at No. 1 doubles. Cal Papineau and Jack Schill earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory against Danny Kuehn and Bennett Inman at No. 2 doubles and Jack Kessenich and John Ewing won 6-4, 6-0 over Jacob Lueck and Thomas Schmidt at No. 3 doubles.
The Greyhounds then fell, 4-3, to Green Bay Notre Dame on May 12.
Ewing and Nelson won, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 1 doubles, Papineau and Schill took a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles and Ewing and Kessenich grabbed a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 3 doubles.
The Woodland Conference tournament was scheduled for Tuesday, May 16 and Wednesday May 17. Shorewood will play in the WIAA Division 2 Brown Deer Subsectional at Pleasant Valley Tennis Club on Monday, May 22.
