During their first meeting, President Trump and France's Emmanuel Macron shook hands for long enough to catch the attention of the pool.

Per the pool report: "They shook hands for an extended period of time. Trump and Macron gripped the other's hand with considerable intensity, their knuckles turning white and their jaws clenching and faces tightening."

A video shows the pair shaking hands for about five seconds. At one moment, Macron does appear to make a face.

Later, the two shared another awkward handshake moment, during which Macron appears to try to push Trump away:

This wouldn't be the first time the act of shaking hands — or rather, the lack thereof — has sparked headlines for President Trump. When he met German Chancellor Angela Merkel in March, Merkel asked for a handshake and Trump didn't respond.
