Whitefish Bay - After months of anticipation, Moxie Food + Drink is gearing up to open its doors later this month.

Moxie owners Tamela Greene and Anne Marie Arroyo announced in April they would be opening their first restaurant at 501 E. Silver Spring Drive, which was previously occupied by Placesetters gift store for 38 years. The restaurant will serve lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.

Moxie has hired Milwaukee chef Antonio Evans as executive chef and general manager of the restaurant. He has previously served as executive chef at Saz's Hospitality Group, the Bravo/Brio restaurant group and Brew City Bar-B-Que.

Moxie will serve "bold American comfort food": classic steak, seafood and pasta dishes revamped with fresh inspiration and perspective. The core menu is short and will be recrafted often. Daily specials will feature food sourced from local growers and farms.

The atmosphere will be warm and upscale casual, and a full bar will serve classic libations and craft cocktails. Two locally brewed craft beers will be served on tap.

Moxie is now taking bookings for holiday party catering along with special event space rental on Sunday and Monday nights. The restaurant is also in the process of hiring. More information about an upcoming job fair will be available on the restaurant's Facebook page: Eat at MOXIE.
