SHOREWOOD - After 10 years in business, Oakcrest Tavern has closed its doors at 4022 N. Oakland Ave. and is being sold to another local restaurateur.

Restaurant owner Rick Schmidt opened the restaurant in 2007, offering soups, sandwiches, wraps, paninis and a popular Friday Fish Fry. A sign posted on the restaurant's front door on Friday, April 21, thanked customers for their 10 years of patronage.

"We would like to thank each of you for your patronage and for making these past 10 years unforgettable. We have genuinely enjoyed getting to know all of you, considering many of you close friends, and will miss being part of the Shorewood community," the sign read. "The timing, although sudden, was right for the current ownership to pursue other business opportunities. Please wish our staff well in their future endeavors. Their dedication and commitment to their customers will certainly be appreciated elsewhere."

North Shore Now will keep readers posted about the restaurant that will replace Oakcrest Tavern.
