PORT WASHINGTON - The CEO of Allen Edmonds will be retiring following the announcement of a new management structure.

Paul Grangaard, who was named interim CEO of the Port Washington-based company in 2008, eventually took on the role full time. The retirement announcement came via the company’s website with a posting from Grangaard.

The letter, directed to "friends of Allen Edmonds," discussed how Diane Sullivan, CEO of Allen Edmonds' parent company Caleres, Inc., announced Malcolm Robinson would fill a newly-created position as president of the men’s and international division — which includes Allen Edmonds.

Caleres, Inc., formerly Brown Shoe Company, was rebranded in 2015 with the Latin word "calere," which means “to glow with passion or intensity,” according to the company website. The company’s portfolio is comprised of businesses in the fashion industry and healthy living such as Famous Footwear, Dr. Scholl’s Shoes, Naturalizer, and others.

Grangaard said in the posting he has met Robinson and was impressed, calling him an “excellent fit for our special culture” at Allen Edmonds.

“I’ve had the chance to spend time with him already and he has really impressed me with his knowledge and insights into Allen Edmonds’ unique place in the men’s fashion world,” Grangaard said.

Grangaard said he plans to focus on family among other interests following retirement — specifically getting in some extra golf before winter. Additionally, he said he hopes to work on something completely new such as music production, teaching, or maybe starting a business.

In the immediate future, Grangaard said he will still be an adviser to Allen Edmonds.

“So, it’s not goodbye, just see you around,” he said.
