GLENDALE - Two of the three candidates vying to represent Glendale's first aldermanic district will advance to the general election on April 4.
Incumbent alderman Robert Whitaker and challenger Tomika Vukovic beat out political newcomer Monica Parkes in the primary election on Tuesday, Feb. 21. Whitaker, 74, is a retired insurance executive who has served Glendale's first aldermanic district since 1997. Vukovic, 45, is an accounting manager who serves on the Glendale-River Hills School Board and Glendale Plan Commission. Vukovic is seeking her first term on the common council.
Vukovic received 196 votes, or 60 percent. Whitaker received 85 votes, or 26 percent. Parkes received 44 votes, or 14 percent.
