Glendale — When Cousins Subs opens its new Glendale restaurant on Jan. 2, it will be piloting its first "fast casual" dining concept with beer.

The previous Cousins Subs building at 5333 N. Port Washington Road was demolished earlier this year, along with two buildings at 5321 N. Port Washington Road and 5317 N. Port Washington Road occupied by Acupuncture and Oriental Medical Center.

In place of those buildings, Evo Development has built a 7,172-square-foot retail building that will include Cousins Subs, Noodles and Company and another unannounced retailer.

Cousins Subs will occupy a 2,356-square-foot space on the south end of the building, which will retain its original address of 5333 N. Port Washington Road. Cousins Subs will also have a drive-thru window. Beer will be stored in a cooler behind the front counter, and will not be available to drive-thru customers.
