Glendale - A developer is proposing to demolish a foreclosed nursing home and build a 57-unit townhome-style apartment community south of David Hobbs Honda.
The former nursing home at 1633 Bender Road has been vacant for nearly 10 years and is deteriorating. The developer plans to build four townhome-style apartment buildings in the same footprint as the former nursing home, which has been vacant for nearly 10 years. The 57 apartment units include two one-bedrooms, 44 two-bedrooms and 11 three-bedrooms. Each apartment will have its own separate entrance.
The development, which is estimated to cost about $7.5 million, would include a party room, fitness center, on-site management offices and outdoor play space.
The proposal will go before the Glendale Plan Commission in November. If approved, construction would begin in early spring 2017 and the apartments would be ready to lease in spring 2018.
