Glendale - The Brick Pub and Grill is celebrating its first year in business with a chili cook-off between the Glendale Police Department and the North Shore Fire Department.

Members of the fire and police departments will serve homemade chili from noon to 3 p.m. before the Packers vs. Cowboys game on Sunday, Oct. 16. For $10, guests can taste up to 10 different chili recipes and vote on their favorites while enjoying live music from Ryan McIntyre, meeting Glendale K9 officer Boomer, touring a NSFD fire truck, raffles, face painting and an outdoor bar.

The winning department will be announced during halftime of the Packers game, which kicks off at 3:15 p.m. All proceeds from the event, plus 10 percent of sales, will be split between each department with funds being used for fire equipment and the K9 unit fund.

The event is the finale of a week-long celebration of the bar's one-year anniversary. The week's celebration starts on Saturday, Oct. 8, with live music from Greg Gerard and Kevin Patrick. On Sunday, Oct. 9, The Brick will supply gumbo and raise funds for Milwaukee Empty Bowls, which combats hunger in Milwaukee. The Packers vs. Giants game will also be shown on an outdoor big screen that night.

Tim and Chelsa Hren opened the bar at 6343 N. Green Bay Ave. in October 2015 after nine months of renovations. For information about the rest of the bar's specials and events, visit www.thebrickpubandgrill.com.
