Glendale - Two years after a massive renovation, the owners of the Holiday Inn Milwaukee Riverfront plan to build a new addition to house a hot tub and fitness room.
The 42-foot-by-41-foot addition will be built next to the indoor pool on the southeast corner of the building at 4700 N. Port Washington Road. The one-story addition will house a 652-square-foot fitness room, men's and women's restrooms, a hot tub and storage facilities. Seven parking spaces will be lost as a result of the improvements.
Architect Steve Esser of Schroeder and Holt Architects told the Glendale Plan Commission on Sept. 6 that Holiday Inn requires all of its hotels to offer a fitness center and hot tub. After hearing Esser's presentation, the plan commission unanimously approved the building addition.
The hotel, previously known as the Milwaukee River Hilton, was renovated two years ago when it was purchased for $6.7 million by CMH Milwaukee River Inn LLC, which transformed the hotel into a Holiday Inn. Those renovations included an expanded and redesigned lobby, a larger, improved outdoor patio, renovated rooms and renovations to the Anchorage restaurant.
