CEDARBURG - It may be the 15th year of Cedarburg’s farmers market, but it’s the first at Firemen’s Park, W65N796 Washington Ave.
The market will run from June 21 through October 25.
Another change this year is the market will now be held 3 to 7 p.m. every Wednesday. Cedarburg Chamber of Commerce Programs Coordinator Maggie Dobson said the reasoning behind the change was two-fold.
First, it was to accommodate more farmers as they aren’t preparing for a busy weekend on Wednesday. Additionally, the day was chosen to accommodate consumers by overlapping both workday and evening hours.
“The Cedarburg Chamber of Commerce felt it important to offer the opportunity to include more vendors and food options while keeping the opportunity open for expansion,” Dobson said.
Dobson said it was a Facebook survey that helped plan the changes.
“After a Facebook survey last fall, the general response was that while Cedarburg had a nice market, there was room to grow,” she said. “Also, a market that was accessible to more people would be beneficial to our community.”
The market was formerly held at the Cedarburg Cultural Center on Mill Street. There were a number of different locations explored for the move, such as Cedar Creek Park, where Dobson said a large clean-up effort of Cedar Creek is underway, which led to that location not being chosen.
“We felt that extra commotion was not conducive to the market atmosphere we were hoping for,” Dobson said. “Moving to Firemen’s Park allows us a very accessible and spacious location.”
The expansion is allowing for more produce and specialty items. Additionally, Dobson said a local Cedarburg restaurant may come to the market periodically.
Food trucks will be in attendance each week as well.
