Brown Deer — Kwesen Sanders, 21, of Milwaukee has been charged in connection with a drive-by shooting that occurred Oct. 7 in Brown Deer.

The shooting in the 8400 block of North 51st Street did not injure anyone, but it did damage a car and the window of a nearby house. A resident in the area heard four to five gunshots and found a bullet had been shot through his window and into his house.

The intended victim of the shooting told Brown Deer police she was trying to get a sample of crack or heroin from a drug dealer in the McDonald's parking lot on Good Hope Road and Teutonia Avenue. At that time, Sanders pulled up next to her, approached her with a pocket knife and attempted to open her car door. The victim told police she had previously purchased drugs from Sanders, according to a complaint.

The victim fled west on Good Hope Road and then north to the area of 51st Street and Dean Road, where Sanders allegedly leaned out of the front passenger window and fired five gunshots at her. A bullet hole was found in the driver's side door of the victim's car.

Sanders has been charged with endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon, second-degree recklessly endangering safety with the use of a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Milwaukee police conducted surveillance on Sanders and reportedly saw him driving a stolen 2017 Mercedes Benz GLA near 15th Street and Keefe Avenue on Dec. 22, according to a criminal complaint. A FBI SWAT team was notified, and when the SWAT team arrived, Sanders allegedly pushed one of the SWAT team members, got into the Mercedes and fled northbound on 15th Street.

Minutes later, other Milwaukee officers saw the Mercedes stop near 56th Street and Mill Road and then head to an alley near 34th Street and North Avenue, where he allegedly fled on foot holding a pistol. Sanders dropped the pistol running over a snowbank, and then detectives took him into custody.

In the more recent incident in Milwaukee, Sanders was charged with two counts of bail jumping and two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon.
