The Brown Deer Village Board narrowly allowed a gas station and a two-story commercial building to be built north of Fox 6 studios at 9001 N. Green Bay Road.

Rick Walia received approval for a 10-pump gas station, car wash and a two-story, 9,152-square foot-building with a convenience store and two retail spaces on the first floor. Walia originally wanted to build two apartments on the second floor, but he has since withdrawn that request. Instead, the second floor will consiste entirely of offices.

Walia originally requested the village's permission to operate the convenience store 24 hours per day, but that request was denied by the plan commission. Village officials agreed to allow 24-hour pay-at-the-pump service, which is allowed at the village's other gas stations.

The gas station and commercial building were approved on June 20 with a 4-3 vote. Trustees Jamie Awe, Terry Boschert and Bob Oates voted against the project.
