Nugent, 68, discussed his meetings with veterans and the 2009 shooting in Fort Hood, a military post near Killeen, Texas. Army Maj. Nidal Hasan at the time fatally shot 13 people and wounded 30 others. Hasan was shot and paralyzed and faces execution.

Daily News: How do you view President Trump as different from former President Obama and Hillary Clinton, in terms of how Trump will govern?

Nugent: The hundreds of campfires that I share with heroes of the military every year, who were heartbroke and angry at Barack Obama, the commander in chief, that they watched disregard the U.S. Constitution that they carried their buddies off the battlefield in flag-draped coffins. The heartbreak in the military community that Barack Obama caused was palpable and shattering to anyone who cared about quality of life, a strong military and good over evil. And the juxtaposition with the celebration of Donald J. Trump becoming their commander in chief was like the Mardi Gras meets New Year’s Eve, Christmas morning, Fourth of July, Flag Day, finally. So I follow the pulse of those in the trenches, both literally and figuratively, and the fact that they were let down by Barack Obama , tragically let down, and jubilant at the voting end as Donald J. Trump as their new commander in chief. That says it all, as far as I’m concerned.

Daily News: How did members of he military tell you Barack Obama let them down?

Nugent: He weakened the military, he weakened the armor and the weaponry and the tactics of the military that reduced their victories in Iraq and Afghanistan. His rhetoric that was clearly anti-American, his apology tours and his defiance of history where good can only win against evil, when good warriors are unshackled to defeat evil. By the way, these are their words that I’m conveying to you. And how’s this: Even though it was Bill Clinton, and Bush didn’t do anything to fix it, so they’re both guilty. And then Barack Obama furthered the infringement, violating his constitutional oath of the Second Amendment. And the best-trained warriors in the world, the U.S. Army at Fort Hood, were not trusted to carry a firearm, and hence were slaughtered by a known Muslim terrorist that they allowed in their midst because they didn’t want to hurt someone’s feelings. And if anybody is confused by that statement, then they need to get their heard out of their ass and do the research that clearly and definitively and conclusively shows that Hasan was given the benefit of the doubt on the side of ISIS instead of constitutional America military modus operandi. And because our heroes of the military were forced into unarmed helplessness and were slaughtered by a voodoo Muslim in their midst. I will challenge everybody reading this, debate me, you pick the place, you pick the time, and tell me how U.S. Army warriors shouldn’t be allowed to carry a gun.

And then it goes right on to other gun-free zones, whether it’s Aurora, Colorado or Sandy Hook or San Bernadino or Paris or Brussels or London. So how are those gun-free zones working for you, leftist, anti-constitutionalists? This is ‘Planet of the Apes, ‘Cuckoo’s Nest,’ Mad magazine. And I fight with all I have on behalf of the military heroes to make sure that these elected employees stop with their Barack Obama-style, constitutional oath violations.
