Friends of Brown Deer Park holding weed-out

The Friends of Brown Deer Park is holding its next weed-out from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 20. The weed-out removes garlic mustard and other invasive plants from the park.

Everyone is invited to come — bring gloves and meet at the parking lot across the drive from the boathouse and lagoon. 

 

Senior club welcomes ‘Mrs. Dickens’

The Glendale Senior Citizens Club, 2600 W. Mill Road, will host actress Jessica Machna, who portrays Mrs. Charles Dickens, at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 24, in the clubroom.

The performance is free.

Foundation holding annual fundraiser

Columbia St. Mary’s Foundation is hosting its annual Tradition of Caring Celebration fundraiser from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 22, at Shully’s, 146 Green Bay Road, Thiensville.

Proceeds from this year’s event support emergency department renovations at Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital. The foundation will also present the Sommer family of Mequon with the 2017 Doerr Tradition of Caring Award for their longstanding philanthropic commitment to the Ozaukee community.

Tickets are $100 per person; sponsorships are also available for various amounts.
