The presidential election is more than a month away, but voters in Glendale, Bayside and Milwaukee were able to start voting on Monday, Sept. 26.

Bayside voters may cast in-person absentee ballots from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Nov. 2  at Bayside Village Hall, 9075 N. Regent Road. In-person absentee voting will begin a half hour earlier, at 7:30 a.m., and close an hour later, at 5 p.m., on Nov. 3 and Nov. 4.

Glendale voters will be able to cast absentee ballots in person from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Nov. 4 at Glendale City Hall, 5909 N. Milwaukee River Pkwy. Voting hours will be extended to 7 p.m. on Oct. 19, Oct. 25 and Nov. 1. For those who aren't available on weekdays, city hall will be open for in-person absentee voting from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 29. Voting hours will also be extended to 5 p.m. on  Nov. 4.

The early voting hours are allowed due to a July 29 court ruling that removed limitations on the number of locations, days and times of day that  in-person absentee voting can be conducted. With these restrictions removed, in-person absentee voting can begin as soon as ballots are available for an election and continue through the Sunday before the election. Absentee voting is not allowed the day before the election.

Shorewood is also taking advantage of the court ruling by allowing in-person absentee voting starting Oct. 10. In-person absentee voting will be allowed at Village Hall, 3930 N. Murray Ave., from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Nov. 4. Voting hours will be extended to 7 p.m. on Nov. 1 through Nov. 4. Shorewood will not offer any weekend hours, as past experience has proven few voters show up to weekend voting hours.

Other North Shore communities will begin in-person absentee voting on Oct. 24, the date required by state law.

In Fox Point, in-person absentee voting will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Oct. 24 through Nov. 4 at Fox Point Village Hall, 7200 N. Santa Monica Blvd.. Voting hours will be extended to 7 p.m. on Oct. 27, Oct. 28, Nov. 2 and Nov. 3. Village Hall will be open until 5 p.m. on Nov. 4.

Voting will be extended to 5 p.m. on Nov. 4.
