GLENDALE - Shorewood's favorite popcorn and confections shop has plans to open a third location in the long-vacant Kletzsch Perk coffee shop on Green Bay Road.

The former Kletzsch Perk building — cleverly named because of its proximity to Kletzsch Park — has sat shuttered for roughly a decade at 6369 N. Green Bay Road. Before opening as Kletzsch Perk in 2002, the property was occupied by a gas station.

On Tuesday, July 11, Goody Gourmets owner Jacqueline Chesser will go before the Glendale Plan Commission for permission to renovate the roughly 1,100-square-foot building and enlarge the space by another 1,200 square feet.

If approved, the renovated space will be the new corporate headquarters for Goody Gourmets, which opened its first brick-and-mortar store in Shorewood at 4425 N. Oakland Ave. in 2006. Chesser opened a second store in 2014 at 6913 W. Brown Deer Road, about a block west of Brown Deer's village limits.

In addition to housing a kitchen and offices, Goody Gourmets' future store in Glendale would also sell its signature popcorn and chocolate treats. Customers can either sit inside or on an outdoor patio.

With the renovation, the exterior of the former Kletzsch Perk building would be transformed with cement board, cultured stone and other materials that would turn the color of the building from white to golden and chocolate browns.

Even with the building addition, the future Goody Gourmets shop would still have room for 23 parking spaces on the property. Chesser also plans to landscape the property, add new signage and add new lighting on the property.
