The Milwaukee area has another new classic rock radio station. Technically, make it three.

Magnum Media has switched West Bend's WIBD-AM (1470), which was broadcasting information and classic hits from the 1960s through '80s, to classic-rock station WRYU. The format, labeled "We Rock You," also is being carried on two translator signals, at 101.3 FM in West Bend and 93.9 FM in Cedarburg.

Songs on the "We Rock You" playlist so far have included such classic-rock stalwarts as Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven," David Bowie's "Fame" and Pat Benatar's "Hit Me With Your Best Shot."

Bill Mitchell — a radio personality on three other Magnum stations including WMBZ-FM (92.5) in West Bend — is hosting a morning show on WRYU from 6 to 10 a.m. According to Radio Insight, Magnum also has tapped Dylan Ayer, who also has a show on the company's WKBH-FM (102.7) in La Crosse, will hold down the afternoon shift on WRYU.

Before it was WIBD, the West Bend station's call letters were WBKV. The station carried a variety of formats, including what used to be called middle-of-the-road music, news-talk and modern country music.

Magnum, which has more than 20 radio properties in Wisconsin, bought the station in 2014, changed the station's format to classic hits (under the label "Kool Variety") in 2015, and switched the station's call letters to WIBD in 2018.
